SUMMARY
Mortenson is currently seeking an Community Impact Specialist to develop, create, and coordinate Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives with a focus on Community Impact. This role will also help plan in-person events to engage employees across the company. The Community Impact Specialist will collaborate with internal teams to promote and expand community impact efforts, create and analyze impact reports, and drive meaningful engagement through social responsibility.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Community Impact Teams with Benevity content and tracking their impact.
Help create and design various materials, articles, and opportunities for print and digital content and collateral
Research and qualify content for article creation for the greater team member base
Prepare rough drafts of articles and design work
Collaborate with the internal team, other CSR counterparts, and Community Impact Network
Contribute ideas for effective communication strategies and help coordinate internal communications flow for our Goodness calendar, events, initiatives, and results, using our technology tools and programs
Design and edit images and other graphics for use in communications and online opportunities
Run regular reports and conduct analyses on impacts and results
Build effective relationships with community organizations
Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
Ensure projects are completed with high quality and on schedule
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Experience in content production, including digital design, layout, copywriting, proofreading, and editing.
Understanding of design principles with experience in both print and digital media.
Experience in InDesign, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, with basic skills in Photoshop and Illustrator.
Familiarity with content management systems such as SharePoint and Jira.
Experience in Excel reporting and analysis, with the ability to convert data into visually compelling communication assets.
Proven project management skills with a portfolio showcasing successful communication, writing, and design work.
Event planning and implementation skills, managing logistics, and tracking outcomes.
Strong collaboration, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with active listening and openness to diverse feedback.
Ability to help create and promote community impact initiatives (e.g., fundraising, volunteering, volunteer acts of kindness (VOAK)) through engaging communications strategies.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, and time-management skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Able to work independently and within teams.
Active listening skills, including openness to diverse input and feedback; effective communication skills for timely progress updates with immediate team/supervisor towards team goals and deliverables.
Capable of supporting cross-functional teams to advance community impact efforts across the organization.
Experience with the Benevity platform.
Passion for community impact and social responsibility.
Ability to travel up to 10%
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Community Engagement, or related field, or equivalent combination of higher education and experience.
Minimum two years of experience with digital marketing, copywriting, proofreading, web content management, and visual asset creation/editing or related experience.
Experience in community engagement or related field.
Current driver’s license
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the following with or without an accommodation; sitting, seeing, hearing, and utilization of a computer and office equipment. The working environment consists of indoor and climate-controlled settings.
