Position Summary:


The Estimating-intern will work closely with other members of the Estimating Department Team to support the pre-construction phase, perform bid, proposal and budget preparation, assist with value engineering for ongoing projects and support subcontractor/vendor relations.


Responsibilities: 



  • Comply with (and actively promote) all Safety policies and procedures including reporting all accidents, incidents and near-misses to ensure adherence to our Number One Core Value – Safety first, in everything we do. 

  • Develop and implement a safe work environment.

  • Maintain a safe workplace and ensure best practices. 

  • Developing and executing safety plans. 

  • Comply with company policies while following safety practices and procedures. 

  • Work as an integral part of our Estimating team to perform plan and specification analysis, takeoff and pricing of road, bridge, marine and other heavy/civil projects with values from $5 million to $400 million. 

  • Work with subcontractors and vendors to define scope, and perform subcontractor and vendor analysis. 

  • Assist with all Estimating functions for Lump Sum, Design/Build and Unit Price projects. 

  • Assist with the budgeting, purchasing and cost functions. 


Qualifications: 



  • Civil Engineering major. 

  • Prior co-op experience in construction preferred. 

  • Strong computer skills. 

  • Experience with Heavy-bid estimating software preferred. 

  • Experience with computerized takeoff and/or design programs.
