Description

A Mechanical Insulator is responsible for installing insulation materials to various mechanical systems, such as HVAC ducts, pipes, and boilers in order to enhance energy efficiency and prevent heat loss. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in various environments.

Experienced Mechanical Insulators preferred, and all experience levels are welcome.

Responsibilities

  • Measure and cut insulation materials, such as fiberglass, foam, or rubber, to required specifications
  • Install insulation materials using techniques such as taping, stapling, or gluing
  • Apply insulation materials to HVAC ducts, pipes, boilers, and other mechanical systems
  • Seal joints and seams of insulation materials to ensure proper insulation coverage
  • Install vapor barriers and moisture-proof materials as needed
  • Use safety equipment and follow safety guidelines and protocols to minimize risk of accidents or injuries
  • Unload and store materials in an orderly fashion
  • Clean up job site continuously
  • Collaborate with other team members, other trades, and customers to complete projects efficiently and effectively

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Physical stamina and strength to work in challenging environments and carry heavy insulation materials
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to perform precise and accurate installations
  • Ability to successfully complete a substance abuse and background screening

Preferred experience/skills

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Insulator or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of insulation materials and installation techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications
  • Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve insulation-related issues

Preferred qualifications

  • Driver’s License
  • Personal vehicle

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crawl, and climb at least 2/3 of a workday
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 100 pounds
  • Vision – must be good or have corrective lenses
  • Hearing – must be adequate to work safely

Work Environment

  • Must be able to work in outside weather, hot and cold inside conditions, areas where there may be toxic and caustic chemicals, moving machine parts, high elevations, vibrations and loud noise
  • Must be able to adjust to changing work assignments with different conditions
