D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Regional Underwriting Manager. The right candidate will be responsible for the overall credit quality of the region. Manage and supervise the Regional Underwriting Centers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- On a daily basis, assign loans to staff for prompt underwriting decision
- Assist Underwriters in prioritizing RUSH’s, conditions and newly submitted loans to meet the required turn-around time
- Oversee the credit quality of the region and ensure prudent underwriting decisions on FHA, VA, Conventional and USDA loans
- Responsible for ongoing recruiting efforts to ensure that a pipeline of candidates is maintained for future employment opportunities
- Attend regional processing meetings and/or Branch Manager sales calls to provide valuable underwriting updates and feedback
- Monitor department processes and make suggestions for improvement when inefficiencies are present
- Ensure staff is proficient and updated on all guidelines that allow them to review and make underwriting decisions on bond loans and conventional products with various investors
- Assist staff with any appraisal issues
- Provide training based on post-closing or audit findings
- Coordinate the resolution of post-closing issues
- Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
- Able to travel overnight
- Report vacation, sick time, and bonus income to Payroll using Peoplesoft
- Schedule weekly meeting to review new programs or changes and discuss issues from previous week
- Upon rejection of a loan by an Underwriter, perform an in-depth review and discuss with the Regional Production Manager to ensure that all avenues have been explored
- Advise Underwriting staff when a final decision is difficult or marginal
- Work closely with the National Credit Policy Manager to manage staffing and other department issues
- Act as a liaison, when necessary, between Branch Personnel and Underwriting staff
