As part of BELAY’s remote contractor network, you'll help clients manage their financial health and maintain accurate financial records.

Job Overview:
As a Virtual Bookkeeper at BELAY, you’ll manage construction industry clients' financial operations. Your primary responsibilities will include payroll processing, reconciling bank statements, and preparing financial reports such as balance sheets and profit & loss (P&L) statements. The remote role allows you to work from home while supporting clients with unique accounting needs. You must be proficient in QuickBooks Online and ideally have experience with Buildium, AppFolio, BuilderTrend, or other construction accounting software.

Key Responsibilities:

• Weekly Bill Payment: Manage and ensure the timely payment of client bills to vendors and contractors.
• Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile client bank accounts accurately weekly and monthly.
• Budget Management: Assist clients with developing, monitoring, and adjusting budgets for projects and overall business finances.
• Cash Flow Management: Oversee and analyze cash flow to ensure financial stability for clients.
• Journal Entries & Coding: Accurately code and enter financial transactions into the client’s accounting system.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and deliver weekly/monthly financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements (P&L), and budget vs. actual reports.
• Custom Reports: Generate additional reports based on client needs, providing tailored insights.
• Chart of Accounts Maintenance: Manage and update the chart of accounts for accurate financial tracking.
• Debit/Credit Card Reconciliation: Ensure accuracy by reconciling all transactions related to debit and credit cards.
• Payroll Processing: Manage payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely employee payments.
• 1099 Preparation: Prepare and file 1099 forms for contractors in compliance with tax regulations.
• Sales Tax Filing: Handle sales tax returns to ensure clients comply with local laws.
• E-Commerce Support: Assist clients with bookkeeping related to e-commerce transactions and sales tax.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a bookkeeper or accountant focusing on construction industry accounting.
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online and experience with Buildium, AppFolio, or other accounting software commonly used in construction.
• Payroll experience is essential.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred but not required.
• Must be detail-oriented, communicative, highly organized, and able to handle multiple clients simultaneously.
