Job Duties
The Bristol District is seeking a Project Controls Engineer to provide district-wide project controls support to the construction management team.
As a Project Controls Engineer, you will conduct constructability reviews for pre-construction activities through the Constructability Review Team (CRT). You will also provide post-award scheduling and time impact analysis support for change orders, assist with project estimate entries into financial management systems, and complete final estimate reviews. Additionally, you will manage the District Construction certification and training programs, while developing construction cost estimates that align closely with quality project development schedules.
Minimum Qualifications
• Experience applying engineering design and construction principles and practices to include roadway, structures, drainage and environmental.
• Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include spreadsheet, database,
and project scheduling programs.
• Experience interpreting construction plans, contracts, special provisions and specifications.
• Experience with highway construction processes, CPM scheduling, cost estimating, quality
assurance and quality control methods, and claims avoidance.
• Knowledge of state and federal standards and regulations related to highway construction and design.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to include providing
technical assistance to others.
• Skill in the use of CADD for design reviews and constructability issues.
• Experience researching, identifying and resolving construction issues, as well as preparing detailed reports on findings.
• Progressive experience related to construction issues and quality improvement applications for a range of projects of varying complexity.
Additional Considerations
• Professional Engineering license or Engineer in training certification.
• A combination of training, experience or education in Civil Engineering or related field
desired.
• Ability to provide expert guidance regarding change order language and claims avoidance, as well as provide cost impacts and savings related to construction.
• Progressive experience related to construction issues and quality improvement applications for a range of projects of varying complexity.
