We are seeking a detail-oriented, positive individual to join our Richmond District Location & Design team. In this role, you will assist in designing, managing, and producing right-of-way and construction plans for various transportation projects under the guidance of the Road Design Engineer. Additionally, you will support project design scheduling, conduct project scoping and cost estimates, and collaborate with other divisions to ensure project segments stay on schedule. Under the guidance of senior team members, the selected candidate will assist in completing roadway designs using MicroStation, GeoPak, OpenRoads, and 3D software, perform quality control checks throughout the design process, and communicate effectively with stakeholders and external customers.
This is an hourly/wage position and is not entitled to state benefits package and is limited to no more than 1500 hours in a 12-month period.

Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge of standard drafting methods, procedures, and roadway engineering design principles
• Ability to read, interpret technical plans/specifications and analyze roadway plans
• Ability to make mathematical and algebraic computations and to measure, calculate and reconcile pay quantities
• Skill in the use of drafting tools, equipment, and engineering software
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Valid driver’s license
Additional Considerations
• A combination of training, experience, or education in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Technologies, or related field desired
• Ability to maintain detailed records, create/analyze reports and maintain project files
• Good listening skills with the ability to interact effectively with people and establish good working relationships among internal and external stakeholders
• Strong technical fluency skills and ability to use collaborative software such as Google Meets and Microsoft Teams
• Skill in the use of computers to include Microsoft Office
