Job Duties


*** This is a PART-TIME (HOURLY/WAGE) POSITION. It is limited to 1500 hours within a 12-month period and averages 29 hours per week. The work hours are Monday through Friday between the hours of 6am and 3:30pm. This position is not eligible for state benefits. ***

*** We are hiring for an hourly/wage Fiscal Technician at our Loudoun Residency, Business Support Section located at 41 Lawson Road, SE, Leesburg, Virginia 20175. ***

This position will require an employee to be Flexible, Adaptive, Tech Savvy, and Dependable.

Position specific responsibilities and duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining, calculating, researching, validating, and performing data input into a financial management system for a variety of transactions. Transactions may include time and attendance, accounts payable, procurement, SPCC credit card direct charges, travel expenses, accounts receivable, inventory, and other related fiscal service transactions.
- Interpreting basic policy and procedures.
- Reviewing all transactions for completeness, accuracy, proper approvals, and required documentation.
- Interacting with internal and external customers to resolve discrepancies.
- Preparing financial reports, interpreting system-generated reports, and running queries.
- Maintaining, purging, and disposing of files in accordance with guidelines and schedules.
- Entering inventory data in both inventory and financial systems and confirming accuracy and completeness of transactions.
- Performing other duties as assigned to support the Business Support function.

*** This position is designated as essential to emergency operations and may be required to work outside of normal work hours, on weekends and holidays during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather, disaster response and emergency operations to ensure the safety of the traveling public. ***


Minimum Qualifications


- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external customers and to work independently or as a team member.
- Knowledge of basic accounting, math, and business principles and practices sufficient to monitor and analyze data.
- Knowledge of office and program support activities.
- Experience with file management to include purging and disposing of files in accordance with records retention guidelines and schedules.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures related to time and attendance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement, inventory, and travel.
- Experience procuring goods and services including requisition, purchase orders, and Small Purchasing Credit Card.
- Experience in monitoring, analyzing, and reconciling data; as well as, accurately performing date entry in automated financial system to include preparing financial reports and running queries.
- Skill in the use of computers and software applications including MS Office programs and automated financial and inventory systems.
- Ability to report during emergency operations during/after normal work hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Valid driver’s license


Additional Considerations


- A combination of training, experience, or education in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or related field desired.
- Knowledge and experience processing accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Experience applying GAAP, governmental accounting, internal controls, inventory, and compliance.
- Knowledge and experience with time and leave rules and reporting using Cardinal.
- Knowledge and experience performing account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
