VDOT’s Fredericksburg District has an exciting opportunity available in its Interstate Maintenance Department. We are seeking qualified candidates to fill an Administrative Assistant vacancy. This position provides support to in an hourly capacity. Candidates must have the ability to work in alternating locations and alternating shifts as deemed necessary by the Interstate Maintenance Office.
The selected candidate will provide administrative or technical support to a manager, work group, section or facility. They coordinate workflow processes and communicate with internal and external contacts. They maintain current knowledge of related policies, procedures and practices.
This position is an hourly/wage position. Wage employees may not work more than 29 hours per work week on average over the course of a year and are limited to 1,500 hours withing a 12-month period. No state benefits are provided.

This position is classified as "deignated" to emergency operations and may be required to work outside of normal work hours, on weekends and holidays during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather, disaster response and emergency operations to ensure the safety of the traveling public.
